Christina's Family
Christina and I have been friends since eighth grade. That's a long time! I have seen her get married and have her three kids, including a surprise set of twins Oh Em GEE!
I was happy to shoot her family pics!
You might remember Bennet. I photographed him with his parents Jeff and Sharon a few years back. I was so excited to hear from them again and looked forward to seeing how Bennet has grown and to meet their newest member of the family, Nadia. Bennet, who is now two, is still as cute as can be and has dimples that your could store things in...and I mean that in a completely cute way...not the creepy way I just made it sound. His sister, who is four months old however, would not be out-done in the adorable department, as you can see...
Celene and Phil were married at Tower Hill Botanic Garden on a day in July which involved rain rain and more rain. It dampened nothing. While watching these two celebrate their marriage some things were made extremely clear;
A) They adore each other.
B) Everyone adores them.
The people in attendance were fun and friendly, seemed to have a wonderful time all night. They clearly had a great deal of love and respect for these two, and boy, they new how to dance!

Rich and Paula's pretty pretty wedding took place on a gorgeous day earlier this summer. Set in Salem, MA, the event was tennis themed (yes, you read that right!), as tennis is something the couple share a passion for. It was so nice to be called back to Paula's family after I photographed her sister's wedding a few years ago!

So, I'm on vacation this week, but as I have booked a few sessions it is clear that I am not very good at actually BEING on vacation. No matter! I love my clients and I am happy to get them some nice photos of themselves and their families.
My friend Donna, who I went to high school with and see regularly still today, hired me to photograph her family as a gift to her mom. What a nice daughter!
It was fun to see her extended family since I don't normally see them and as I recall, her brother Sam was in diapers the last time I saw him (hopefully he never sees this blog entry since I'm not so sure how thrilled he'd be that I just typed that...um, look at the nice pictures below! Distract distract!).
Donna bought a home a few years ago and with it a barn. In that barn - this very cool blue door. So, of course we used it!
It was a fun session, and poor sleepy Max, who was dangerously close to naptime managed to hang in there just fine for it. Well done little one!
It's always a great thing when clients come back for more. I was so flattered to hear that Sandi enjoyed her family's session and the photos that resulted last year so much that she wanted to book another session this year. Hooray! This time we decided to check out Lynch Park in Beverly. We couldn't have asked for a better scenario; the temperature outside was just right and the light was perfect!
I love to see from year to year how the kids have grown, too. And have I mentioned how grateful I am to have so many awesome clients?
I recently joined Pinhole Press. Designing and receiving a sample album got me thinking about the tangible product aspect of what I do. One of the things that I love about my work is the displayable factor. Yes, it's very important that my clients are comfortable when I'm photographing them, and that they like my work, but what's most important, is that they can enjoy it well after my work is done. I worry that they will look through them on their computer, enjoy them, then get distracted by something shiny (you know, like, life or something) and never get around to making prints and framing them and getting them up where they can enjoy them.
I am always really flattered and happy when I visit a client for a session and see on their wall a framed photo from a session I had with them six months or a year before. In truth, seeing any photos on my clients' walls makes me happy, whether or not they are mine. Photography is a wonderful thing, and so are family and friends. Make them join forces!
So this entry is to simply remind you to not lose your momentum after a session! Keep pushing just a little bit longer and in the end, you'll have some great portraits around your home, or maybe even an album in hand!
Here is a 'Square Panoramic' from Pinhole Press. It's pages are heavy and lay flat to allow for full page spreads. Ooo La la !
I know what you might be thinking - is that a human child? Yes, yes it is! Despite the fact that she looks like a fine porcelain doll. Coincidentally, she lives with her parents Peter and Colleen a few doors down from where my parents live. It was a joy to photograph her and her proud mom and dad, even on the hot hot day we got to do it on.
I photographed twins Sophie and Liam a while back. I was excited to hear from their mom Emma again and this time, we met at Jamaica Plain's Arnold Arboretum where we let the wee ones wander. It was an nice time and their parents were troopers, especially Connor who was recovering from ACL repair surgery. Eek!
I met Melanie a few years ago when I was visiting some good college friends of mine in Ohio (they had a photo shoot done then!) Melanie had hoped to fit a session in with me but there wasn't time. When I visited last month though, we made time! They had a wonderful play room with super light which I really loved and took full advantage of before forcing everyone outside into the oppressive heat for a few more shots.
Amy had me photograph her family before Josh and Luke arrived quite a while ago. Now, the twins are 20 months old and busy busy busy! I photographed than at a pond near my home and it was great, challenging fun!
