Boston Family Holiday Sessions!

Tis the season for holiday photos! This weekend was no different. Both sessions took place in beautiful Boston. The first was Rachael along with her kids, and their cousins which made for a fun and super fashionable cute-fest. Next was Pam’s family who came dressed in their best. Even their pup Murphy was sporting a matching bandana!

The results were fun, charming, and a lovely nod to our beloved city!

How Could I Forget Violet?! {Boston newborn photography}

To be fair I haven’t forgotten Violet, it’s just that she’s probably old enough to vote by now (make good voting choices, Violet!)

I had a delightful time last year photographing Raymond , who is the first-born to high school classmate of mine, Alison, so I was very happy to hear from Allison again! This time, it’s a girl! Violet was a sweet little love to be sure, and photographing their growing family was something I really appreciate being given the opportunity to do.

On the wall in Alison and Ed’s home was the family photo I’d taken last year - I love seeing that! It’s not just because I took it (though that is a source of pride), but I always hope that my clients will get a chance to actually print their photos after going through all the scheduling and outfit choosing and primping for a session.

It makes me feel good to know that they are actually enjoying the fruits of our collective efforts!

Cindy and Her Family {Boston Family Photographer}

I’m always thrilled to add a new family to my roster and Cindy, her daughter Mia, age 3, and husband Richard were no exception. Including a charming wooden puzzle into their shoot was a nice touch and I was glad they had it, along with some interesting light and bright spaces in their home. And who can resist some jumping on the bed!

Johnson String Instruments

I've been working with Johnson String Instrument for many years now. The maker, seller and repair shop for high end string instruments hire me to do many different types of shoots for them. Be it product shots, details of beautiful instruments, shots of the luthiers and staff working, portraits and headshots, images for their annual catalog, coverage of their special events, concerts or master classes, I am always pleased to hear they need me.

Here's a sampling of images taken for them over the past year.

The W Family {Boston Family Photographer}

Lizzi told me she found me on a random web search, and I feel lucky for that! When I met her and her family at Menatomy Rocks Park, there was something very familiar about them. Maybe it was that their eldest daughter brought Harry Potter to the photo shoot (the book, not the actual wizard), or that when Lizzi contacted me for a session there was a slight sense of urgency because the aforementioned Harry Potter-loving eldest child's front teeth were growing in!  I felt this was the kind of urgency I could get behind. These are my kind of people.

They had an easiness about them that was a joy to be around. Photo sessions can be stressful, but you wouldn't know it if you were watching them!

• Rumana and Her Family • {Boston family photographer}

These were shot before Christmas but I wanted to share them because I'm so grateful to Rumana for being a repeat offender to Cydney Scott Photography. Maybe that title doesn't quite work - what I mean is she's hired me many times since Aayan, her oldest son, was six months old

Then again at one year old. And then Aayan turned two and Rehan was on the way.

Then suddenly Rehan was one !

It had been a while though when I got a bittersweet email - they were moving away and wanted some photos at their home, and also, they now have a spunky little girl named Samira who was just about to turn two!

Samira kept me on my toes which I love. Nothing better than a feisty girl who knows what she wants, Aayan had the same sweet, gentle demeanor as always, and Rehan, the "middle child" has such a twinkle in his eye.

I'll miss you guys!

• Fall Sessions Wrap-Up! {Boston Family Photographer} •

Autumn was busy and fun for Cydney Scott Photography! Here's a peek at some of those sessions. We had twins, we had grown siblings, we had extended families, dancing, tree hunting and even a few beloved family dogs! We can't forget them!

• Avery and Will {boston family photography} •

I love seeing my littlest client grow over the years and Will and Avery have been doing just that! Combine some nice light, the pretty campus of Wellesley College and the promise of lollipops for good behavior, and you've got a fall family session!

• End-of-Summer Wrap-Up! {Boston Portrait Photographer} •

It was a hectic summer for Cydney Scott Photography and I'm sure everyone can relate. I decided to do and end-of summer wrap-up post here, sharing the greatest hits of the tail end of summer which included a very foggy mini session day (as always my clients were completely on-board despite the odd weather pattern. I'm one lucky photog!), a session in western MA, another on the cape and even a session with some family members of my own! Fluffy dogs, bikes in dresses, and bubbles. What more could you need in life?

Bryce is Here! {boston newborn photographer}

Kristin and Benjamin found me years ago and hired me to shoot their engagement photos. Then, they hired me to shoot their wedding!  Then came Brayden! And then some time went by and I photographed everyone together.

And now Bryce is here! Yay for Bryce! And now Kristin and her three Bs are in a new home and lucky for me, it had big windows, lots of light, and a super chill, happy baby Bryce!  (click to enlarge)

Stephani found me through another client of mine and I'm so grateful she did! Her youngest was just coming up on one year, and I was to take some family shots and some portraits of her little gentleman.

Such beautiful, big eyes! (click to enlarge)

• Maddie and Her Little Sister Isabelle {Boston Family Photographer}•

I first met Maddie and her parents Jeff and Debbie years ago, when Maddie was just a bitty thing.

Now, Maddie is a big sister to Isabelle, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her, and seeing Maddie and their parents again. Look at those baby blues!

•Amy & Co. {BOSTON FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER}•

As a kid, my parents would take my brother and me to a small neighborhood in Cape Cod called Tahanto, where we would spend a week or so. I was really small, so I don't remember much beyond the feeling of happiness I had being there.

Amy and I are from the same town, and her family frequently would visit the same neighborhood at the same time as us. Looking back, this was probably intentional. I remember riding bikes, and I remember wandering alone, just us kids, to a rusty-yet-enjoyable playground not to far from our cottages. I especially remember walking at night, both our families, to get ice cream. The excitement of walking in the near dark, and getting a special treat, while my brother and Amy sang a song they'd learned, maybe at school. It's on the tip of my tongue...something about gooseburgers? Pickles were involved (man, that's gonna bug me).

There was also a parade in that neighborhood in the summer which we participated in. Somewhere there exists a photo of myself and Andy, Amy's younger brother, wearing clown costumes, and another of my brother and Amy dressed as cavemen. Their costumes were made possible with seaweed and, I think, pillow cases. Apparently I remember far more than I thought of those times.

Back on track here (get on with it already, Cyd). Thanks to FB, Amy and I have been connected for a while now, and I was psyched she picked me to come and photograph the many generations of her family on the day of her mom's birthday. (click to enlarge).

• Fall Session Round-Up {boston portrait photographer} •

OK, I'll admit it; I'm putting on my lazy hat right now. Well, no, not really, but I am putting a collection of my favorite shots together from my sessions this season and sharing them with you all together, rather than doing multiple blog entries.

I attempted my annual fall session day before I left on vacation in October, but both the actually event day and it's rain date got cancelled due to stormy skies (shakes fifts at the heavens!). When I returned, I managed to schedule a second attempt, and my clients were excited to try again. Until it began to rain after I got only one session out of the way.

So, off to the second rain date we went (or does that make it the third? I don't know, I've lost track at this point). Some got their shots done on that sunday rain date, others went out of their way to meet me in the middle to get their sessions completed. I hope everyone loved their results!

Thanksgiving is coming, and I'm feeling thankful indeed.

Avery and William! {Boston Family Portrait Photographer}

These little snuggle bunnies have grown a lot in the past year. I was excited when their mom got in touch for a one year session. Photographing them (as is always the case with any human between the age of one and four), is like trying to keep cats in a wheel barrow.

I've actually never tried to put cats in a wheel barrow, but I imagine it's an interesting challenge, as is photographing humans between the ages of one and four. They were fun and squirrely and curious and busy in all the best ways.
