Dear Nirvi,

Because of distance, you are the last of my people to be added to this project, but by no means the least. Ever the work-a-holic, you are currently taking on your next big adventure as an editor for Politco, and living in Brussels, Belgium with your husband Hemu. What an amazing person you are! I couldn't be more proud of you. We first got to know each other in 2004 when The Palm Beach Post sent us (me a photographer and you the education reporter) to Parris Island together on assignment. You were fun, funny, and interesting, and I knew we were kindred spirits when I learned that you, too, are not a morning person. Our friendship solidified fast. Eventually, I moved back up to Boston and you to DC, but no matter, we have been visiting each other ever since, sometimes at our homes, sometimes in other locales as part of our annual girls' trip with Libby. When we are together, it's as tough zero time has passed, even though life makes it so hard to keep in touch day-to-day. I miss you tons and look forward to the next time I see you. We will get to laugh again like I just saw you yesterday!

Love, Cydney

I photographed and interviewed Nirvi in October 2016 in Brussels Belgium where she is currently living with her husband and working at Politico. Visiting her there was part of our annual girls trip which started in Paris.

I like to laugh...I’m a laugher. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed that I can’t breathe properly
